Join us for this magical workshop as story artist and art director Alessandra Sorrentino delves into the key aspects of crafting memorable and solid characters. As we explore the character development process, guests will learn key principles in making characters that benefit the entire film pipeline from story artists to editors. You will then have an opportunity to write and sketch your own character outline from scratch, focusing on the character’s essence, motivations, and how they fit into a larger story.

About the Speaker

Alessandra Sorrentino
Alessandra Sorrentino is a Story Artist, 2D Animator, and Art Director with over 20 years of experience in the animation industry. Born and raised in Turin, Italy, she has worked primarily in feature animation with major studios such as Pixar, Netflix, BlueSky, Aardman, Cartoon Saloon, and Studio MDHR, contributing to acclaimed titles, including The Secret of Kells (2009), Song of the Sea (2014), Shaun the Sheep Movie (2015), The Breadwinner (2017), Wolfwalkers (2020), Ron's Gone Wrong (2021), Nimona (2023), and Inside Out 2 (2024). Recognized with two Emmy nominations, Alessandra is also deeply committed to mentoring, sharing her expertise at Pixar, Netflix, The School of Visual Arts in New York, The Animation Workshop in Denmark, and Schoolism.
