Since Disneyland opened over 50 years ago, people have continued to be fascinated by Walt's original theme park, and today that interest can be fed by a variety of mediums focusing on the early, golden years of The Happiest Place on Earth.
Whether for reasons of nostalgia or scholarship, the desire to experience something from a time when life seemed gentler, or to understand the foundation of a place that has resonated with people through the years, fans and students of Disneyland are now supporting a thriving cottage industry devoted to exploring all aspects of the Park. Through hundreds of books, magazines, and websites all created by people just like themselves, Disneyland devotees are exchanging ideas about their beloved Park and feeling connected to a special community.
Join author and Disney historian Sam Gennawey on Saturday, May 31, at 3pm for Disneyland: The Fan Driven Time Machine, a discussion about the development of this current phenomenon. Panelists include authors Jeff Kurtti, Todd Pierce, and Werner Weiss. A signing will follow the presentation in the lower lobby.
