Coming Soon: Walt Disney - A Giant at the World's Fair

Posted on Wed, 07/09/2014 - 08:00

Although Walt is known for creating “The Happiest Place on Earth,” he was also a “giant” at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.  Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this monumental event with The Walt Disney Family Museum, and learn about the four groundbreaking attractions that Walt created for General Electric (Carousel of Progress), Ford (Magic Skyway), the State of Illinois (Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln), and UNICEF (it’s a small world).

Disney Legends Marty Sklar and Bob Gurr join Disney Parks pioneer Frank Stanek to discuss how Walt Disney Entertainment dominated the Fair and why Walt’s contributions became the building blocks of Disneyland’s expansion in the ‘60s and the stepping stone to Walt Disney World in Florida.

Kathryn Ayres, curator for the exhibit on the 75th anniversary of the 1939-40 Golden Gate International Exposition provides special commentary, and Disney Legends Alice Davis, Rolly Crump, and Richard Sherman make video appearances.
