We’re celebrating a day of STEAM-powered education at The Walt Disney Family Museum on Saturday, April 20! By adding the arts (A) to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), we want to help teachers show students that STEM can be creative and fun. Why STEAM? Well, Walt built Disneyland using the power of STEAM—that’s what Imagineers do. So while combining STEM and the arts is suddenly a hot topic in educational policy circles, it’s business-as-usual for those who follow in Walt’s footsteps.
We’ve got a full day of programming dedicated to exploring where art, design, and the sciences meet:
- Design Thinking for Educators Workshop by Dr. Maureen Carroll of Lime Design
- The Physics of Animation Talk by Dr. Alejandro Garcia of San Jose State University
- 3D Printing Demonstration Station by Balboa High School’s CAST Academy
- Multiplane Camera Demonstration Stations
