The inspiration of and appreciation for Walt Disney knows no boundaries. The membership at The Walt Disney Family Museum certainly reflects this diversity. Each month, we introduce you to one of our Members, so you can see the varied and frequently fascinating people, who have come together to learn and experience more about the life, work, philosophies, and ideals of Walt Disney. This month, we’d like you to meet member at the Supporter level: Shelley Gagnet!
In addition to being passionate about Disney, Shelley has been in the automotive business for 18 years. Having worked in retail, operations training, and process improvement, she now serves as Community Relations Director at John Elway's Crown Toyota Scion in Ontario, California. Her team has led efforts to donate to local programs such as the United Way and Alliance for Education, in addition to supporting blood drives, safety clinics geared toward teen drivers, and many other important causes.
Why did you become a member of The Walt Disney Family Museum?
I joined The Walt Disney Family Museum because I knew it would be a great tribute to Walt Disney. I have enjoyed my journey learning about him and what better way to do that than at this one, beautiful place!
What do you find the most enjoyable about your membership?
The most enjoyable part of the membership is the whole package—the quarterly newsletter, the exhibits, and the museum itself. I have visited numerous times and know the layout very well, but depending on how much time I have or who I am with, I always leave with a new nugget of Disney knowledge or a special memory.
How does Walt Disney inspire you?
Walt Disney was an amazing human being. I am always in awe of all that he accomplished and how we get to benefit from it! We are so lucky but he was so brilliant!
What is one of your favorite Disney memories?
I went to Disneyland a few times as a kid, but when my husband and I decided to move to California for his career, we decided to get annual passes. We have had them for five years and my love of all things Disney grew along with my knowledge and passion. So, when the museum opened, it was a simple decision for me to join!
