Join us this Saturday and Sunday in Open Studio for activities focusing on how to tell stories using illustration. See demonstrations of visual storytelling throughout the program as artist Andy Gouveia paints a series of large wood panels and creates a striking visual narrative. Participants will be invited to create their own short visual narratives as might be seen in a comic book or graphic novel.
The visual storytelling workshop corresponds with the opening of special exhibition Camille Rose Garcia: Down the Rabbit Hole. The exhibition showcases the work of goth-inspired lowbrow artist Camille Rose Garcia, particularly focusing on her reinterpretations of the Louis Carroll classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Open Studio will occur on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12 from 1 - 4pm. The program is free with museum admission and is open to all age groups and skill levels.
