Each month, we ask a museum staff member to answer five questions about their position at The Walt Disney Family Museum, their fondest Disney memories, and personal tidbits. This month in our series titled "What Do YOU Do?", we're highlighting Corinne Leles, who was—until recently—known as Corinne McCoy (congrats)!!
What is your title and what do YOU do here at The Walt Disney Family Museum?
I am the Museum Store Coordinator here at our museum. I work with the Store Manager to bring exciting and unique products into our store! I help with product design, product ordering, shipping and receiving, and assisting guests in our store.
What is your fondest Disney memory OR what is your favorite gallery at The Walt Disney Family Museum and why?
It is hard to narrow down my Disney memories and select just one that stands out, but there was one exceptional day—Christmas Day 1994. My Nana and Grandpa handed me a handmade card to open. Inside, my Grandpa had drawn Sleeping Beauty Castle and fireworks and announced that my entire family was going to Disneyland together! It was a hard feat to get my whole family together in one place, so this was a huge celebration. We had an amazing time and every one of us still treasures those memories to this day.
How does your job communicate and interpret the legacy of Walt Disney?
Our Museum Store is unique, in that we only carry merchandise that relates specifically to Walt Disney. It could be items relating to the time period in which he lived, his personal interests, the films he actively worked on, the parks he created, or the innovations he brought to the world. We have quite a lot to work with! We have the opportunity to have conversations with our guests about all of these topics as they leave the galleries with questions on their mind and enter our store. If you want to talk about a great conversation starter, we also have the privilege of housing part of the Exhibit, the Multiplane camera crane, directly in our store!
Describe your workspace OR your favorite item on your desk.
My workspace is fun! I split my time between our beautiful store and my vibrantly decorated desk. I have vintage poster art, Mary Blair ads, Shag (Josh Agle) and Amanda Visell prints, and a large stash of Little Golden Books at hand.
Tell us a little known fact about you.
I am an artist! I love to draw and paint in my free time, and I have been greatly inspired and influenced by Disney concept artists.
