On a regular basis, we ask members of our team to answer five questions about their positions at the museum, their fondest Disney memories, and other personal tidbits.
As we commemorate Memorial Day here in the Presidio, we'd like to introduce you to someone who once served in the Armed Forces and who now helps to ensure the security of the museum ... so today, we're asking Homer Morgan ... what do YOU do?
WDFM: What is your title and what do YOU do here at the museum?
Homer: I serve as the Security Operations Center Supervisor at The Walt Disney Family Museum. My job is to support and back up the Site Security Manager in whatever her endeavor and to make sure proper guidance, assigned jobs, and professional security is accomplished by the security team.
What are your favorite galleries at The Walt Disney Family Museum and why?
I like Gallery 6, where you get to see what Walt did to support the military effort during World War II. Also, I think Gallery 7 offers a wide range of his great ideas.
How does your job communicate and interpret the legacy of Walt Disney?
To me, Walt Disney was a true public servant. I strive to have our Security officers here at the museum work towards serving this museum and its guests in a spirit of Disney-type service.
Where do you spend most of your time at work and what do you enjoy about it?
The Security Operations Center and the interactions I have with Walt Disney Family Museum staff members.
Tell us a little known fact about you!
It's probably not known that I once was assigned to the Presidio as a Military Policeman and, often, was tasked with reveille. This is the early morning flag raising detail, which really was a beautiful thing and sight to see!
