In conjunction with our program The Hand Behind the Mouse: Stories of Ub with Don and Leslie Iwerks, we are happy to present the documentary for which the program was named. Ub Iwerks helped shape modern animation, and this documentary, directed by his granddaughter, Leslie Iwerks, chronicles the fascinating story of this artistic genius and remarkable inventor, who helped create classic Disney entertainment that still resonates with audiences today. Learn how Ub Iwerks went from being Walt Disney’s right-hand man to the owner of his own animation company, before finally settling in to his role as the inventor of special effects technology that changed the face of the film industry for years to come.
Runtime: 90 minutes
Please Note: There is no screening Saturday, March 9 due to Family Access Day, which has separate film screenings; there is no public screening Saturday, March 30 due to the program, The Hand Behind the Mouse: Stories of Ub with Don and Leslie Iwerks (special screening included with program ticket).
