“Avast ye! A monstrous creature has turned the tides!” The ocean is a vast expanse, filled with both wonder and speculation of what lies beneath the deep waves. Prepare the radar and get ready to “Dive! Dive! Dive!” as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of Walt Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). As we explore behind the scenes of this movie, we will also take a closer look at how sea creatures of the deep have been animated. After, we will use hand-drawn techniques to animate your own squid creature rising to the surface and wrapping its tentacle around an unsuspecting boat.
