Kwanzaa is Lit

This piece is dedicated to Kwanzaa which means "first fruits" in Swahili. It is a holiday rooted in African traditions, and celebrated by many communities across America. Each candle in the KINARA or candleholder represents the 7 Kwanzaa Principles, which are: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith).
