Stop-Motion Magic: Behind The Wonderful World of Walt with Creative Capers

Creative Capers Entertainment co-founders Terry Shakespeare and David Molina created short stop-motion films to accompany their favorite snippets of Walt Disney interviews for their series The Wonderful World of Walt. Join Shakespeare, Molina, and Creative Capers President Sue Shakespeare as they discuss the series and their extensive backgrounds in the animation and entertainment fields, including work as supervising art directors at Disney’s consumer products division and video games designers at the former Disney Interactive.

Terry Shakespeare and David Molina are two of the founders of Creative Capers Entertainment. Like a modern day “Frank and Ollie,” they are long-time best friends, business partners, and highly respected in the entertainment industry for their extraordinary skill as character designers, art directors, world builders, and “out-of-the-box” thinkers and tinkerers. They began their careers as animators working for Don Bluth Productions on the animated classics The Secret of NIMH (1982), An American Tail (1986), and The Land Before Time (1988). They eventually progressed into storyboarding and character design, and were hired as supervising art directors to help lead blue-sky design at Disney’s Consumer Products division. While there, they provided creative vision for the first Disney Stores, Mickey’s Toontown, Splash Mountain, and the Backstage Studio Tour. After forming Creative Capers Entertainment, the studio produced more than 50 video game titles for Disney Interactive, cementing them as experts in the design language of many animated Disney films. Next, they collaborated with LEGO and Miramax on LEGO’s first animated films, The Bionicle Trilogy (2005), whose success launched the Lego Entertainment Division. However, their greatest professional joy most often stems from collaborating with The Walt Disney Company’s divisions of Imagineering, Animation, and Experiences. Helping to bring these cherished characters to life in new and innovative ways for today’s fans has been a true gift and honor for Molina and Shakespeare.

Sue Shakespeare, President of Creative Capers Entertainment, is one of the most respected producers in the animation industry today. She has worked on numerous animated feature films and led many design teams. One of Shakespeare’s greatest strengths is the ability to design animation pipelines to suit any style of production. She is an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences member, as well as President of ASIFA-Hollywood. Artists love working with Shakespeare, and her creative network contains many of the top animators, directors, and art directors in the industry today. Her drive, integrity, and innate ability to nurture talent has been crucial in Creative Capers’ years of success.
