Imagineering Nuts & Bolts: How Walt Brought Magic to Disneyland

Posted on Mon, 06/02/2014 - 08:00

“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” – Walt Disney

In 1952, Walt Disney founded WED Enterprises (the name for which was formed from his initials) to oversee the production of Disneyland Park. Now known as Walt Disney Imagineering, WED was Walt’s creative lab for inventing new ways to entertain audiences. And once an idea or concept for an attraction took root, the journey from development to installation was a thrill ride in itself!

Join Bill Butler, Director of Creative Design for Garner Holt Productions, Inc., for a lively discussion about Walt’s desire to create a believable world through the little-known realm of production for Disneyland attractions. Learn the history behind theme park animatronic, prop, and set development as started by Walt in the 1950s and continuing today.

Guest panelists include former head of Disney's MAPO and PICO divisions and Disney Legend Orlando Ferrante, renowned former Walt Disney Imagineering Audio-Animatronics® animator David Feiten, and animatronics wizard Garner Holt, winner of the 2014 Buzz Price Thea Award for a Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements.

Saturday, June 21, 3pm – Presentation (Theater) | 4:30pm – Signing (Lower Lobby)
