We’re celebrating a day of STEAM-powered education at The Walt Disney Family Museum on Saturday, April 20! By adding the arts (A) to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), we want to help teachers show students that STEM can be creative and fun. After all, combining STEM and the arts business-as-usual for those who follow in Walt’s footsteps.

See demonstrations of visual storytelling throughout the program as artist Andy Gouveia paints a series of large wood panels and creates a striking visual narrative. Famed author and illustrator Maurice Sendak claimed to have been inspired at age 12 by Disney’s film Fantasia (1940). He would go on to influence a new generation of readers as well as illustrators. This summer we are offering a variety of workshops and talks led by master practitioners and creative professionals, in conjunction with the special exhibition Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons.

WDFM Volunteer Ruben Raygoza receives the Jefferson Award

Service to the community is an important part of the Legacy of Walt Disney. We honor his legacy in the Bay Area community through The Walt Disney Family Museum Volunteer Program. This year Ruben Raygoza, one of our dedicated volunteers, received the Youth in Action Jefferson Award.
