One of the most iconic scenes in Steamboat Willie (1928) shows Mickey Mouse merrily whistling to himself while steering the titular steamboat. Whistling is an intricate facial movement that can be used to illustrate a character’s emotions or enhance the mood of a scene. In this workshop, learn more about the famous whistle, as seen in gallery 2, as you explore the facial expressions and lip movement that are required to animate a whistling character.
