As seen in gallery 1, some of Walt Disney’s earliest experiments with film revolved around creating illusions: he would film family members completing mundane actions and then reverse the footage, thus creating surreal effects. By reversing the film, he could create the illusion of people flying, or objects falling apart and then reassembling themselves. Much like Walt’s technique, pixilation is a method of using live actors to create surreal actions in an animated piece. In this interactive workshop, become the actor and filmmaker as you create an animation that appears to break the rules of physics.
