Year

Location

Ages
Girl Scout Cadets (Grades 6–8)

Cadettes will connect with experts from The Walt Disney Family Museum to learn how Walt encouraged his staff to experiment with special effects. Then, explore how the resulting advancements in technology enhanced classic Disney films and cartoons by making the animation more realistic and engaging. After learning about the relationship between filmmaking and technology, Scouts will head down to the Learning Center to experiment in groups with a mini multiplane camera in order to gain a hands-on understanding of how to create depth in an animated piece. This experimentation will culminate in each group creating their own silent stop-motion short about a cause of their choice.
