With Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room's 50th anniversary celebration coming up at the end of this month, we take a look at the early day of Audio-Animatronics©, which includes the creation of Disney's very first mechanical robot: A Tiki Bird!
Last month in Open Studio, artist Andy Gouveia completed the line work for a story sequence on six large wood panels on the front porch of The Walt Disney Family Museum. Each panel exhibited a key story moment in an adapted version of the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk.
With flowers in bloom and birds alight this May, we take a look at one of Walt's springtime Silly Symphonies short: 1934’s The Goddess of Spring is based on the Greek myth of Persephone (or the Roman Proserpina), and her capture by the insidious god of the underworld. The project presented the unique opportunity for Disney artists and animators to bring human characters to life.
Each month, we ask a staff member to answer five questions about their position at The Walt Disney Family Museum, their fondest Disney memories, and other personal tidbits. As schools start to break for summer, we'd like to introduce you to someone on our education team... so today, we're asking Alyssa Carnahan... what do YOU do??
Storyboard’s Unusual Suspects series oft-focuses on a character considered by many to be secondary. A minor role, if you will. This month as we focus on Walt Disney's classic Alice in Wonderland, we decided to shake things up a bit and talk about a rather primary character, who still manages to fall under the realm of an unusual suspect.
