Each month, we ask a staff member to answer five questions about their position at The Walt Disney Family Museum, their fondest Disney memories, and other personal tidbits. As schools start to break for summer, we'd like to introduce you to someone on our education team... so today, we're asking Alyssa Carnahan... what do YOU do??

Storyboard’s Unusual Suspects series oft-focuses on a character considered by many to be secondary. A minor role, if you will. This month as we focus on Walt Disney's classic Alice in Wonderland, we decided to shake things up a bit and talk about a rather primary character, who still manages to fall under the realm of an unusual suspect.
Famed author and illustrator Maurice Sendak claimed to have been inspired at age 12 by Disney’s film Fantasia (1940). He would go on to influence a new generation of readers as well as illustrators.
This summer we are offering a variety of workshops and talks led by master practitioners and creative professionals, in conjunction with the special exhibition Maurice Sendak: 50 Years, 50 Works, 50 Reasons.
Join us this Saturday and Sunday in Open Studio for activities focusing on how to tell stories using illustration. See demonstrations of visual storytelling throughout the program as artist Andy Gouveia paints a series of large wood panels and creates a striking visual narrative. Participants will be invited to create their own short visual narratives.

We’re celebrating a day of STEAM-powered education at The Walt Disney Family Museum on Saturday, April 20! By adding the arts (A) to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), we want to help teachers show students that STEM can be creative and fun. After all, combining STEM and the arts business-as-usual for those who follow in Walt’s footsteps.
Each month, we ask a museum staff member to answer five questions about their position at The Walt Disney Family Museum, their fondest Disney memories, and other personal tidbits. So today, we're asking Billy Hayes... what do YOU do??
