On February 6 we celebrate the anniversary of the birthday of a man who is sometimes overlooked in accounts of Disney history: Elias Disney, Walt’s and Roy’s father. Disney and film historian J.B. Kaufman gives us a closer look at the man who played a very important role in Walt's life.

Walt Disney and the Story Department tweaked stories to make them as strong as possible for an animated film and its audience. Sleeping Beauty is no different, drawing influence from French writer Charles Perrault's story with the same name. Here are just a few differences we found between Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and the Grimm fairy tale on which it is partially based: “Briar Rose.”

Huell Howser, the host of TV series "California's Gold", passed away on January 7 earlier this year from prostate cancer. We were so saddened to have read this in the LA Times...

During Open Studio this month, we created a collective storyboard outlining some of the key plot moments from the story Peter Pan. A storyboard can be made fairly simply at home using easy-to-find materials. In addition to helping outline a story, storyboards can be used to organize ideas for an essay, a website, a theme park attraction, or a video game.
